PIA, Navy record wins in PPFL

KARACHI, Aug 8: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) beat Pak Elektron Limited 5-0 and Navy recorded a 2-0 win over Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches on Friday.

The PIA-PEL encounter at Peoples Sports Complex was a quick-paced affair which also saw the airline’s striker Zeeshan Ali contributing a hat-trick.

The first goal came in the 38th minute through Zeeshan, the second happened in the 40th through the other striker Shakir Lashari, the third, in the 43rd, was scored again by Zeeshan, who got his hat-trick in the 66th minute, followed by Shakir coming back into action with PIA’s fifth goal in the 82nd minute. Midway, PIA also earned a penalty kick, which their skipper Nasrullah failed to convert in the 58th minute.

The other match between Navy and HBL at the Korangi Baloch Stadium saw Navy’s striker Sajjad Ahmed scoring both goals for his side. The first one came in the 30th minute through fellow striker Asif Mahmood’s pass and the second in the 90th through solo effort.

Saturday’s fixtures: Pakistan Steel v PTV at Pakistan Steel Ground at 5.30pm. KESC v Army at People’s Sports Complex at 5.30pm.
