Imran keen to excel

BEIJING, Aug 8: Pakistan’s ace penalty corner striker Imran Ali Warsi is aiming to unleash everything in his armoury to get his country through to the podium at the Olympic Games.

“It is my aim and objective to apply whatever experience, exposure and talent I possess in the games here at Beijing,” he said on Friday.

“Olympics is the befitting forum to prove it and I am eager to excel for my country here,” said the 22-year-old Karachi-born full-back, appearing in his first Olympic Games.

“We really want to achieve something here so that people do not point fingers at us,” said the talented player.

Imran acknowledged that Pakistan hockey was looking down at the moment and it was his wish and dream to help the national hockey team revive its past glory. “Our hopes are high and it’s my dream to produce my best at Beijing,” he said.

“When you enter the field, you forget against whom you are playing and naturally you try to give your best,” he commented, adding that the team was fully motivated for the challenge ahead.—APP
