NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Police ordered to protect widow

By Our Correspondent

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 8: The District and Sessions Judge of Naushahro Feroze directed the SHO Moro on Friday to provide protection to a widow and her minor son who had been allegedly kidnapped on July 29, and lodge an FIR against accused.

Shabana Behan in an application submitted before the District and Sessions Judge Sikandar Ali Bhutto on Thursday stated that she and her son had been living in her parents’ home in Naushahro Feroze since the death of her husband.

She accused her brother-in-law Riaz of trying to entice her into an illicit affair with him and on refusal coercing her into marrying him.

She had, sometime back, she complained to the then Nau-shahro Feroze SHO Lal Bux Dahar who tried to resolve the issue in the mosque by taking oath on Holy Quran from Riaz Behan to treat her like a sister.

After about two months, the accused again started visiting her parents’ house with the same demand, she stated, and added that five months back when Naushahro Feroze police went to arrest Riaz, he managed to escape.

She stated that her son was suffering from chest infection, therefore she and her sister took him to the doctor in Moro on July 29. Eight people, including Riaz, Hameer, and Zamir kidnapped the two leaving behind her sister, from outside the clinic of Dr Ghualm Shabbir Chohan at gunpoint.

She said that to save herself from the physical greed of Riaz she falsely agreed to marry him on which he brought them to Moro on Wednesday to solemnise the promise.

Early Thursday, when Riaz and his uncle Bachal Behan were fast asleep, she with her son reached the Moro police station for getting lodged an FIR which police refused to entertain.

She then arrived at her parent’s home in Naushahro Feroze and sumitted an application in the court. The judge issued notice to Moro police to submit a report on Friday. The SHO submitted a report in her favour on which the judge ordered police to provide protection to her and produce the accused in court on Monday.

The SHO took the woman, her son and brother in a police mobile to the police station for lodging the FIR.
