FAISALABAD, Aug 7: Scores of motorcycle-rickshaw drivers and farmers representatives on Thursday took out a rally and staged a sit-in at Kutchery Bazaar Chowk in protest against the high prices of petroleum products and daily-use items and ban imposed on the three-wheelers.

The rally was led by the central president of Kissan Board Pakistan, Sardar Zafar Hussain.

The rally started from Jhal Pul Chowk, Samundri Road, and terminated at the Zila Council office. The protestors, many of them riding motorcycle rickshaws, chanted slogans against the government.

Addressing the protestors, Mr Hussain said the government had failed to deliver. He said the ban on motorcycle rickshaws would render thousands of people jobless.

He urged farmers, labourers, students, lawyers and traders to join hands for their rights.

City district Naib Nazim Mian Amjad Yasin held talks with the protestors and assured them that the district assembly would approve a resolution to support motorcycle rickshaws and dispatch it to the Punjab government.
