Interviews cancelled under ‘political pressure’

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 7: Hundreds of job seekers were disappointed after they were told at the eleventh hour that ‘authorities’ had postponed interviews for recruitments to the Population Welfare Department.

More than 1,200 male and female candidates had applied for 24 posts of various pay scales in the department. They were called for interview on Wednesday, but when they reached their interviewer’s office they were told that the interviews had been cancelled.

A source said parliamentarians pressured the ‘authorities’ to cancel the recruitment process because they wanted their favourites to be appointed against these posts.
