Used medical goods like syringes, blood bags, glucose bottles and urine bags worth of over Rs7 million, were seized while owners Abdul Aziz and Kashif Mahmood, of the Aleechi Bagh near Ameen Park factories, were sent behind bars after registration of cases against them with Shafiqabad police.

Also, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta ordered a thorough inquiry into the reported theft of medical equipment and medicines from government hospitals and dispensaries. The stolen goods are recycled in such factories.

BUTCHERS HELD: Four butchers were arrested while attempting to take two TB-affected buffaloes to the slaughter house on Bund Road.

Led by District Officer (Livestock) Dr Aizaz Anjumn, CGDL officials intercepted Rab Nawaz, Allah Rakha, Usman and Karamat who were dragging two weak buffaloes on Bund Road. A preliminary medical examination revealed the two animals were suffering from tuberculosis. The butchers were sent behind bars after registration of cases against them with Islampura police.

DCO Bhutta directed district livestock department officials to ensure that Lahorites get hygienic meat at the prices fixed by the CDGL and also keep a vigil on illegal slaughter houses.
