LAHORE, Aug 6: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, who as deputy opposition leader in the previous assembly earned his name as a smart and astute parliamentarian, tried to turn the table on the PML-Q, the incumbent opposition, when one of its members tabled a privilege motion against Rahim Yar Khan DCO for holding an open court while dressed in shorts.
The minister asked how the ‘evil’ travelled? He said it was the PML-Q government which following dictation of an army general had made womenfolk to run on roads while wearing shorts, a reference to mixed marathons organised in Lahore in 2006 and 2007. Now the evil, he argued, had gradually spread to the government offices.
He, however, promised to probe the incident and said that an action would be taken against the DCO if he was found ‘guilty’. — Staff Reporter
