Under-trial prisoner flees from court

LARKANA, Aug 6: An under trial prisoner, Ghulamullah Tunio, facing murder and police encounter cases, escaped from the boundaries of sessions court Larkana on Wednesday where he was brought for hearing of a case.

ASP City Nasir Qureshi, who heads the investigation, said that the entire police party comprising three assistant sub-inspectors, six head constables and 18 policemen, had been taken into custody and also initiated interrogations.

The UTP, who was in pair with another UTP Wazeer Kalhoro, escaped from the police custody after removing his handcuffs, the assistant jail superintendent of central prison Mr Malik told Dawn.

The escaped UTP was facing seven cases including six murder charges. After appearing in the court he escaped, sources said.

Wazeer Kalhoro told the jail officials that he was unaware of the escape.
