KARACHI, Aug 5: Apprentice rider Mohammad Umer proved his ability when four-year-old chestnut colt Moon Dazzler made it two wins in-a-row while Sher Khan and New Ferrari were left biting the dust in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Tuesday.

The Sunday meeting was rescheduled owing to rain in the city.

Moon Dazzler edged past six-year-old bay New Ferrari by five-and-a-half lengths while four-year-old colt Sher Khan who was installed favourite in the betting ring settled for fourth. Mare Sonia seized the third slot in a field of 10 runners.

Ridden by experienced riders Fahim K and Ghulam Shabbir II, New Ferrari and Sher Khan failed to match the performance of the eventual champion who won in an exciting fashion in a start-to-finish bid. The win also gives Umer his third win of the season.

The followers of Dawn had a pleasant day as almost it’s all but one tips including the day’s best and good double proved correct. The only exception was the feature event where Tyre Jee was not on job.

After settling third twice, four-year-old dark bay filly Bacaradi returned to form by landing the feature event beating Desert Hawk by half-a-length in a closely fought race.

The Conqueror finished three lengths behind to grab third place while Afroze Jehan completed the board.

Cash Deposit and Moomal from the stables of Rajar’s did the trio of owner, trainer and rider –Rajar, Mushtaq and Nasir – proud returning with flying colours in the fourth and sixth races for a double.

With a win under his belt, five-year-old bay Cash Deposit galloped to a facile six lengths victory over King Of Cool to make it second straight win while filly Moomal, lurking in the dark, led the field from the front to post five lengths’ win over mare Closing Argument in the supporting event.

Three-year-old bay colt Speed Of Arab atoned for two successive losses galloping to two lengths victory over fancied colt Mr. Mention Not under rider Shabbir.

Earlier, 11-year-old bay mare Raj Kumari presented owner-cum-trainer M. Aslam Khan with a winner in the opener while filly Guess Its Me picked up the second race.
