Water level at barrages rising

SUKKUR, Aug 5: A low flood was passing through Guddu and Sukkur barrages and another flash flood is expected to reach Guddu in next 48 hours which would further increase the water level at the barrages of Sindh.

According to irrigation department sources, on Tuesday evening water flow at upstream Guddu barrage was recorded at 200,000 cusec and at downstream 180,000 cusec, while at Sukkur barrage upstream flow was 208,000 cusec and at downstream 171,000 cusec and at Kotri barrage upstream flow was 89,000 cusec and at downstream 71,000 cusec was recorded.

Sources said that at Kalabagh upstream water flow was recorded at 343,000 cusec and at downstream 336,000 cusec, while at Chasma upstream flow was 255,000 cusec and downstream was 228,000 cusec, at Chenab upstream water flow was 350,000 cusec and downstream was 248,000 cusec, at Taunsa upstream flow was 214,000 cusec and downstream water flow was 190,000 cusec, while at Panjnad upstream water flow was 30,000 cusec and at downstream no water was being released.

Experts say 3500,000 cusec water will reach Guddu in next 48 hours from Cheshma, Kala-bagh and Chenab, due to which water level at Guddu barrage would considerably increase.
