LAHORE, Aug 4: Punjab Assembly speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan on Monday notified PML-Q MPA Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan as the opposition leader in the house.
Talking to the media at the opposition chamber in the assembly building, Chaudhry Zaheer said had the government taken the decision earlier it would have avoided violation of the parliamentary tradition of opening the budget debate by the opposition leader.
He said when the existence of the opposition was not accepted at the floor of the house, they took a civilized way of protest by establishing the opposition chamber in a tent outside the assembly building.
