Moon Dazzler set to repeat winning run at KRC

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, Aug 2: Four-year-old chestnut colt Moon Dazzler with an impressive win under his belt is on course to make it two victories on the trot when he appears in the third race of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Moon Dazzler overcame a bad patch when he returned with flying colours, beating Princess Rozi by 12 lengths under rider Aashiq Ali on July 6.

His present form suggests that he will once again oblige the punters by overcoming the field particularly, New Ferrari and Sonia in the same fashion. He is also our day’s best bet.

On the other hand, the seventh and last race which is also the feature event, presents a contrast picture where at least four to five form horses are pitted against each other for the honours. They are Tyre Jee, Sweet Girl, The Conqueror, Bacaradi and Crown Prince. The Conqueror and Crown Prince belong to the same connection.

To single out a winner in such scenario is a difficult business where connection and handling of mount by experience rider will give an edge to any one of the above over others.

However, on current form three-year-old chestnut colt Tyre Jee looks smart to atone for the three successive defeats. After making it four-in-a-row he settled for second thrice.

Seven-year-old bay Manan Prince is tipped to rise to the occasion presenting owner-cum-trainer Mian Asif with a deserving win in the supporting event.

Though he has been placed quite a number of times, the victory has eluded him so far in this season.

Bay Vice Admiral and mare Closing Argument comes in the reckoning for places. Three-year-old bay filly, Moomal is lurking in the dark and can put up a good show.

The fifth race should end in a blaze of glory for three-year-old bay colt Speed Of Arab while five-year-old bay Cash Deposit should land the fourth race to make it two on the trot.

Raj Kumari, an 11-year-old dark bay mare, and three-year-old bay filly Guess Its Me are our fancy in the first two races.

A card of seven races all to be run over five furlongs, have been drawn for the day. The first race starts at 2.00pm.
