NEW YORK, Aug 2: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said on Friday that the PPP government was secure and was able to stay in power even without its coalition partners since it had the support of majority of Pakistanis.

He told a gathering of Pakistanis organised by the People’s Party here that “there is no danger to the government even if PML-N leaves the coalition”.

During a question-answer session, Mr Mukhtar said he stood by his statement to a private channel that President George W. Bush, during his Monday’s meeting with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, voiced his concern about ISI’s role and asked about leaked information that tipped militants to surveillance efforts by Western intelligence services.
