By Our Reporter
RAWALPINDI, Aug 2: An additional district and sessions judge here on Saturday served notice on the station house officer of Westridge for allegedly releasing a man arrested after registration of a criminal case against him on court orders.
ASJ Abdul Rehman Awan directed the SHO to explain on August 8 why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against him.
Masood Akhtar, a local PPP leader, alleged in his petition filed through Chaudhry Masood Akhtar Advocate that the police had arrested the accused, Safdar, but later let him go on the intervention of an MNA.
Meanwhile, ASJ Mohammad Azam Ali directed the Kahuta police to register a criminal case against six men on the charge of torturing an official of Basic Health Unit (BHU).
Raja Karim Dad, a naib qasid at the BHU Kahuta, told the court that Hamid alias Kaka along with his five accomplices thrashed him when he refused to give them some prohibited medicines.
Later in the evening, when he was going home the accused stopped him and beat him again besides snatching Rs15,000, he alleged. He said that he along with in-charge of the BHU lodged a complaint with the Kahuta police but they refused to take action against the accused.
The SHO told the court that the two parties had a monetary dispute and there was nothing more than that. But the court directed the police to register the case and submit a report in one week.
