Travel agents, tour operators lose licences

LAHORE, Aug 1: The Federal Tourism Ministry’s Tourist Services Department has cancelled licences of 10 more travel agents and tour operators who did not pay annual renewal fee, submit bank guarantees and uphold rules and regulations.

Tourist Services Deputy Controller Muhammad Nasim Laber said here on Friday that all defaulters, including the Punjab Tourism Department, were reminded several times about payment of renewal fee, but they did not respond. Finally, the department had to cancel their licences.

Laber said the defaulters’ licences would be restored only after payment of renewal fee and fulfilment of other procedural formalities.

He said the department had already cancelled the licences of 45 travel agents and tour operators across Punjab.

He told travel agents and tour operators to clear their financial liabilities towards the tourist department otherwise their licences would be cancelled.—APP
