KARACHI: Reshuffle in law dept

KARACHI, Aug 1: The federal government on Friday replaced all but one of its law officers in Karachi and appointed a deputy attorney-general at Hyderabad.

Amer Raza Naqvi, former deputy prosecutor-general of the National Accountability Bureau, Mohammad Ashraf Khan Mughal, former associate of Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek, and Umar Hayat Sandhu, a leader of the People’s Lawyers Forum, were appointed deputy attorneys-general at Karachi while Mohammad Ali Shaikh was notified deputy attorney-general for Hyderabad.

Ms Nasreen (Cookie) Rawat and Abdul Karim Nizamani were appointed federal government standing counsel for Karachi and Zulfiqar Ali standing counsel for Hyderabad.

Another notification issued simultaneously relieved Karachi-based DAGs Imran Ahmed and Badar Alam and standing counsel Sofia Saeed of their assignments. Rizwan Ahmed Siddiqui remains the senior DAG.
