Aisam reaches quarters

LAHORE, July 31: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi defeated Britain’s Jonathan Murray in Belo Horizonte, Brazil ATP Challenger Championship second round to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Aisam fought for 150 minutes to carve out a 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Aisam will now face third seed Leonardo Mayer of Argentina in the quarter-final.

Later in the day Aisam and Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico were equally made to work hard by Carlos Salamanca of Columbia and Julio Cesar Campozano of Ecuador in the pre-quarterfinal of the doubles, which they won 7-5, 6-4 and will now face Andrew Coelho of Australia and Jonathan Murray of UK in the quarter-final.
