NAWABSHAH, July 31: Police officers would be imparted training in investigation soon, said Hyderabad DIG Sanaullah Abbasi on Thursday.

Talking to journalists at the DPO office, he said that five police officers would be selected from each district for a course on investigation methods, which would also focus on human rights, human behaviour and sociology.

He said that he had requested the government for inclusion of a psychologist in the committee for recruitment of police officers.

He said that police badly required mobile phone tracking device to control kidnapping for ransom.

He expressed satisfaction over law and order situation in the region but admitted that highway crimes still prevailed and said that to control it, 58 check posts have been established and patrolling would be increased with the cooperation of Motorway police.

He said that a meeting would be held with transporters for deployment of private guards in passenger coaches as there were reports of alleged involvement of drivers and conductors in highway robberies.

He said that there was also a plan for strict checking of vehicles by an officer of DSP rank at Toll Plaza.

He said that at least 550 police personnel would be recruited in Hyderabad range out of which 50 per cent would be given to Nawabshah for anti-dacoity units.

He said that an operation would soon be launched against Patharidars throughout the region, which would start from Mehar in Dadu district.

Answering a question, he said that police were capable of controlling crime and maintaining law and order but they need proper training and assistance of Rangers.

He said that a number of policemen were suffering from hepatitis B and C and they required medical assistance for which he would approach the government.

Earlier, the DIG distributed performance certificates among 36 police officers, including three inspectors, 14 sub-inspectors and 19 ASIs.
