Tabish annexes double crown

KARACHI, July 30: Promising Tabish Khursheed annexed a double crown in the Islamia Club Juniors’ Open table tennis tournament which concluded on Wednesday.
Tabish, 11, inflicted 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7 defeat on Daniyal Mazhar to pick up under-12 crown and later recovered from 1-2 down to post 4-2 victory over Durraiz Vazeer to add under-15 title to his tally. The scores were 10-12, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9.
Junior international Usman Ahmad handed out a 4-1 defeat to Farman Shahid to claim under-18 title. Usman who has toured to Dubai and India was home 5-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-3, 11-8.
Sana Erum had already won a double crown by capturing the girls’ under-15 and under-18 titles.
Meanwhile, the finals were followed by formal closing of juniors’ table tennis camp that commenced at Islamia Club under the aegis of KTTA on June 10.
President of the PTTF, S. M. Sibtain, distributed certificates among the participants.
Arif Khan, an ITTF qualified coach, imparted training to the budding players.

Boys’ under-12:
Tabish Khursheed bt Daniyal Mazhar 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7.
Boys’ under-15:
Tabish Khursheed bt Durraiz Vazeer 10-12, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-9.
Boys’ under-18:
Usman Ahmad bt Farman Shahid 5-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-3, 11-8.
