Security checkpost attacked near Sibi

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, July 30: Militants fired rockets on a security checkpost near Sibi on Wednesday.

According to sources, three rockets fired from mountains exploded near the checkpost. Security forces returned fire. No casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, the Baloch Liberation Army claimed that its men had attacked a camp of security forces in Bhambor area of Kohlu district and killed three personnel.

But officials denied that any such incident had taken place in the area.

HASHISH SEIZED: The Frontier Corps foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of hashish across the border on Wednesday.

According to sources, FC personnel intercepted a convoy of donkeys carrying the drugs in Gulistan area and seized 740kg of hashish.

The smugglers managed to escape.

Afghan clerics

An organisation of Afghan Ulema living in Quetta have rejected a proposal for talks with western diplomats and pledged to continue their fight against US-led allied forces.

The Quetta-based organisation, Ittehad-i-Ulema of Afghanistan, said in a statement issued here on Wednesday that talks could be held only after the US withdrew its troops and paid compensation to Afghans for the war losses.

It claimed that two weeks ago, a delegation of Afghan clerics had carried a message saying that US and French ambassadors wanted a meeting with Quetta-based Afghan ulema.

They rejected the proposed meeting and expressed the determination to continue the ‘jihad’ against the allied forces.
