Traffic police personnel protest against killings

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, July 30: Traffic ground to a halt in most parts of the city on Wednesday morning when traffic police personnel blocked main intersections in protest against target killings.

The protesters said that more than two dozen constables from Punjab had been killed while on duty over the past few months, but the government had not done anything to protect them or to apprehend the assailants.

The protest caused traffic jams near the Hockey Ground, GPO, Science College, Manan and Meezan intersections.

The constables, who had gathered at the Manan Chowk, proceeded towards the Sharea-i-Adalat and blocked the road near press club.

They ended the protest when their seniors told them that this was not the proper way to air grievances.
