KARACHI: Review committee

KARACHI, July 30: The Sindh chief minister has constituted a high-powered review committee headed by the additional chief secretary (planning and development) as its Chairman. Additional chief secretary (finance), secretary law and secretary (services) SGA&CD are the other members of the committee.

The terms of reference of the committee are: to review the cases of induction of persons absorbed in the Provincial Secretariat Service (PSS) cadre in violation of prescribed rules; to examine all inductions made in the government of Sindh after the judgment of Sindh High Court in CP No.D-960/1996. (Such violations of rules attracts provisions of accountability laws and the National Accountability Bureau has already taken cognizance of such cases); to access the distortion brought in services structure and career progression of officers in various services and departments; to evolve a methodology to reverse or rectify such absorption/induction in the government of Sindh and suggest any other action as deemed necessary in the light of the Sindh High Court decision, Nab laws and instructions issued by federal/provincial governments.

The committee will submit its report/ specific recommendations within six weeks.—APP
