KARACHI, July 29: The two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played simultaneously on Tuesday evening at different grounds of the city saw National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeat Punjab Medical College (PMC) of Faisalabad, and Habib Bank Limited draw with Pak Elektron Limited (PEL).

The NBP and PMC encounter at the Korangi Baloch Stadium saw the bankers’ striker Mohammad Ashfaq creating an opportunity for his skipper Abdul Aziz to score in the 20th minute. This was followed by Ashfaq’s own two goals in the 30th and 44th minutes. The score at interval was 3-0.

The second half mostly remained uneventful with the exception of PMC finally being able to score in the 65th minute through their winger Tanveer-ul-Hasnain. NBP won the match 3-1.

The other match between HBL and PEL at the People’s Sports Complex saw HBL scoring in the 16th minute through their striker Khayal Mohammad. But three minutes later PEL’s winger Muneer Ahmed equalised. The 1-1 scoreline remained till the final whistle.

Wednesday’s fixture: PIA v Pak Steel at the Korangi Baloch Stadium, at 5.30pm.
