WICB chief sent on leave

BRIDGETOWN, July 29: Problems within the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) are believed to have reached new levels with reports suggesting the CEO, Dr Donald Peters, has been put on unspecified administrative leave and Tony Deyal, the Corporate Services Manager, has been fired.

This follows an internal investigation of the leaking of information on how money was spent on renovations at the offices of WICB president Julian Hunte in St Lucia.

Sources said that the decision was taken at a WICB meeting in Castries last week. Hunte is due to hold a news conference in Antigua on Wednesday to discuss the issue but Peters, he said he expected “to continue” in his job.

This news comes on the back of reports that Chris Gayle has resigned as captain after his relationship with the board deteriorated.—Agencies
