Militants strike in Swat

MINGORA: Three security personnel were killed in an attack in Swat on Monday.

According to sources, unidentified armed people fired at a vehicle carrying the personnel on the Matta-Ronyal road. Two personnel were injured.

Claiming responsibility for the attack, Terik-i-Taliban Pakistan spokesman Muslim Khan told Dawn by phone that the action was in retaliation against the arrest of several Taliban. The security forces had subjected the arrested persons to torture, he alleged, adding that one of the victims was still under treatment in a Saidu Sharif hospital.—Correspondent
