Afghan FC draw with Wapda in PPFL

KARACHI, July 28: Afghan Football Club and Wapda drew 1-1 in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) encounter at Govt High School in Chaman on Monday evening.

Wapda, the national champions, would have won the match 1-0 had it not been for Afghan FC’s last ditch effort in the 90th minute of the match to equalise, which paid off.

Striker Arif Mehmood struck in the 38th minute for Wapda and their goalkeeper Abdul Aziz, who wouldn’t let anything get past him, managed to maintain the score for his side till the last minute when the home side’s central defender Hayatullah finally got past him to score.

Meanwhile Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Competition Committee on Monday moved National Bank of Pakistan’s (NBP) three matches — against Pak Elektron Limited on Aug 1, Army on Aug 4 and Navy on Aug 12 — from Sharafi Goth’s Korangi Baloch Stadium to the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) Stadium.

Tuesday’s fixtures:

National Bank of Pakistan v Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad at Korangi Baloch Stadium, Karachi, at 5.50pm.

Habib Bank Limited v Pak Elektron Limited at People’s Sports Complex at 5.30pm.—Agencies
