Couple killed over karo-kari

SHIKARPUR, July 28: A man and a woman were killed on the pretext of karo-kari at Karan Gate Muhalla in the jurisdiction of Lakhi Gate police station here on Monday.

Reports said that two brothers Muharam Ali Mahar and Wahid Bux Mahar killed their sister and their cousin Abdul Rasheed Mahar with sticks and hatches in the house.

Lakhi-Gate police registered a case against Muharam Mahar and Wahid Mahar on the complaint of Abdul Hakeem Mahar - father of deceased Rasheed Mahar.

One of the accused Muharam Mahar surrendered before police, while the other was absconding.

In another incident a man was shot dead by armed people in Thul town of Jacobabad district over a dispute related to a karo-kari incident, reports our Sukkur correspondent.

According to reports reaching here, 40-year-old Mohammad Ramzan Lashari was going

to market for shopping and at Riaz Chowk unknown persons shot him dead.

Area police shifted the body to a local hospital for post-mortem. No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Area people say that the murder was the result of a lingering dispute involving karo-kari allegations.
