By Our Correspondent

KOHAT, July 28: A large number of women on Monday blocked the old Indus Highway in Chakarkot area of the city here to protest unannounced loadshedding and scarcity of potable water.

They staged a sit-in on the road and criticized the Pesco officials for suspending electricity supply without schedule which caused water shortage in the area making their lives miserable in the hot summer season.

They later opened the road after the Pesco XEN assured them to solve their problems.

TMA RESOLUTION: The Kohat tehsil municipal administration’s decision to reinstate 68 employees, who were dismissed last month, for easing burden on the civic body, has been opposed by the TMO.

The decision was taken in a unanimous resolution during a meeting of the TMA here on Monday, in which the members of the civic body exchanged hot words and shouted slogans at the TMO for opposing the decision.

The TMO had suggested sending of sacked employees’ case to Peshawar for a final merit-based decision. The TMA members also chastised the sanitary inspector for not ordering cleaning of the city streets.
