Policeman suspended

VEHARI, July 27: The district police officer (DPO) has suspended the Sadar police station ASI Khalid Mehmood for receiving bribe from a complainant.

DPO Asher Hameed held an open court on Sunday where the general public lodged a number of complaints against police.

Arif of 51/WB alleged that ASI Khalid Mehmood had received Rs 10,000 bribe from him for arresting a theft case accused but he made no arrest. The DPO ordered an inquiry and suspended the ASI.

DCO Mohd Khuram Agha who was also present there received most of the complaints against Wapda and health department.

There were also a number of plaints involving property disputes.
