Arrest warrants of SHO issued

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, July 26: A civil judge here on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants of a station house officer for not complying with the court orders to submit a charge sheet in an illegal weapon possession case.

Judge Atta Rabbani directed the police to arrest the SHO Chontra and also asked the district accounts officer to attach his salary and submit report on the next hearing.

The court had directed the SHO to submit the charge sheet against Ghulam Raza, who was booked for possessing illegal weapons, after completing the investigations, but the police official did not turn up in the court. SENT TO JAIL: An anti-terrorism court sent two brothers to Adiala Jail on judicial remand for 14 days after they were arrested by the Rawat police on Friday.

The police informed the ATC-I Judge Chaudhry Habibur Rehman that Khalid Mehmood and Yasir Mehmood were arrested after an encounter in their far-off village of Dhoke Malikan. Two hand grenades, two short guns along with some live bullets were also recovered from their possession, the police added.

BAIL GRANTED: In a kidnapping for ransom case, the ATC judge granted bail to a juvenile against the surety bond of Rs50,000 and ordered his release if he was not wanted in any other case.

The counsel for Ahsanullah, 13, who was arrested by Pirwadhai police with two other men for allegedly helping them in kidnapping a five-year-old boy for ransom, maintained that he was a juvenile and should be granted bail and a separate trial be initiated against him.

Inayatullah, a resident of Pirwadhai, lodged a complaint with the police on March 6 about the kidnapping of his son Mohammad Umer and his teenage cousin Ahsanullah, who also worked at his shop in Saddar. The kidnappers demanded Rs6 million for his release.
