THATTA, July 25: Police on Friday took back 18 weapons out of 62 which were provided to some people, mostly close associates of influential politicians, on the recommendation of the previous government.

According to police sources, the weapons, including Kalashnikovs, single-barrel guns, repeaters and riffles, were the property of the police department and were provided to the people to guard their villages in coordination with police.

MASS MARRIAGE: Sixty couples tied knot at a mass marriage ceremony on Thursday with the financial assistance of the Zakat Committee.

The committee paid Rs15,000 to each couple.

MPA Humera Alwani was chief guest at the ceremony.
