MIRPURKHAS: Encroachments

Published July 25, 2008

MIRPURKHAS, July 24: Residents of different areas of the city fear that if Mirpurkhas district government and taluka municipal administration do not take notice of occupation of pieces of land that serve as natural outlets for drainage of rainwater then their localities will be submerged under rainwater.

According to reports, land mafia is occupying such land in Gulshan colony, Bhansinghabad, Walkart, Ishtiaq town, Ali Talpur town, Mir Sher Mohammad village and Sattar Nagar with the authorities concerned looking the other way. Last year different areas of the city were submerged under four to five feet rainwater and their residents were compelled to shift to safe places.—BoC
