KARACHI: ANP slams city govt moves

KARACHI, July 24: The president of the Awami National Party (ANP), Shahi Syed, who is also chairman of the Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga), has criticised abolition of the Goth Abad Scheme introduced in various areas of Karachi.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, he alleged that the move was aimed at expelling Sindhis and Pakhtuns from these areas.

He urged the Sindh government to hold a thorough inquiry into the city government’s affairs regarding allotments in housing schemes.

He claimed that the CDGK had established a residential scheme after occupying land earmarked for cottage industry in Ittehad Town while cottage industries were being set up by razing old villages in the surrounding areas.

He also summoned a meeting of Loya Jirga on Friday at Mardan House to review the situation.

He said a delegation of the action committee would also apprise Sindh Chief Minister

Syed Qaim Ali Shah of the situation.

“Razing of Sindhis’ villages in Karachi by a PPP government is a big question mark,” he remarked.—PPI
