KARACHI, July 24: The Gulshan Town administration will launch a two-day anti-polio drive from July 28.

This was decided in a meeting presided over by TMO Shafiqur Rahman on Thursday. THO Dr Imdad, WHO representatives Dr Navid and Miss Erica, Unicef representatives Amir and Dr Shabbir, TFP Dr Abdul Malik and UC nazims attended the meeting.

The meeting decided to set up control rooms in all the UC offices. The TMO appealed to the parents to ensure administering of anti-polio drops to their children.

Fumigation drive

Korangi Town Nazim Muhammad Arif Khan launched a fumigation campaign in the town. As many as 33 vehicles fitted with spraying equipment were dispatched to nine union councils of the town.

Later, the nazim accompanied by TMO Mushtaque Ahmed Memon, TO Infrastructure Mohammad Sami Khan, DTO Syed Ahmed Naqvi, UC nazims and councillors inspected the drive.

Mr Khan directed the staff to carry out fumigation in every nook and corner of the town.

Monsoon arrangements

Site Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed has said that arrangements for the upcoming monsoons have been finalised across the town.

He said that a rain emergency centre had been activated to work round-the-clock to deal with any untoward incident during rains.

Illegal mobile towers

The Shah Faisal Town administration has asked all the mobile telephone companies to obtain NOCs and pay the dues for erecting communication towers within the town’s jurisdiction within a week.

The town administration has chalked out a line of action to take strict action against those mobile telephone towers installed without NOCs from the town authorities from August 1.

In a meeting of the regulation department held with Town Nazim Karimuddin in the chair, the details of the expected operation were reviewed.—Agencies
