LAHORE, July 23: The Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company has started a one-month free manual jewellery designing training programme for women at its centre here.

Ms Sumera Malik from Pakistan School of Fashion Design is the resource trainer for the programme being attended by 21 women aged between 16 and 57.

The training will cover important concepts like manual colouring, silver metal colouring, image sketching, gold composition and colours variation, transparent and non-transparent gems stones and usage, structure guides, pearls making etc.

The company has started the programme because lack of training and international quality standards are the real impediments to the growth of gems and jewellery sector in Pakistan.
