Transporters go on strike

HYDERABAD, July 22: On the call of transporters’ association, a strike was observed in many parts of Sindh on Tuesday.

Transporters observed a complete strike in Hyderabad against the raise in prices of petroleum products by the government.

The local and intra-city buses and coasters remained off the road, causing difficulties to public.Transporters said that they were force to revise fares which would ultimately cost additional financial burden to public.

In Mirpurkhas the public transport, including buses, coaches and vans, remained suspended on routes from Mirpurkhas to Hyderabad, Sanghar, Khipro, Umerkot and Mithi.

People faced hardships and paid extra fares to taxi drivers and rickshaws to reach their destinations.

The truck owners association also took out a rally on Mirpurkhas-Hyderabad road to protest against the recent raise in prices of petroleum products.

The protesters were carrying banners and were raising slogans against the government.

In Shikarpur, a partial strike was observed in the district.

In Nawabshah, no strike was observed on the call of transporters. The coaches and vans to Karachi and other parts of the province remained on the road.

In Sanghar, partial strike was observed by transporters as all buses and coaches to and from Karachi and Hyderabad remained off the road while local transport within the district was plying.The strike call was given by association of goods and private transporters against the price hike in petroleum products.

In Dadu, transport remained thin in the morning on Sehwan, Larkana, Hyderabad and Johi routes.

Transporters kept coaches off the road to protest against increase in oil prices.

Vans and small passenger coaches were seen on roads.
