MIANWALI, July 21: A Health Department official secured his release after paying a ransom to his captors on Sunday, Dawn learnt.

Paramedic Muhammad Bakhsh Allita, of Choarwala, was kidnapped by unidentified people on July 13 and was detained at an undisclosed location in the Chidroo mountainous area.

He reportedly paid Rs800,000 to his captors for his release. Allita told reporters at his residence that some influential of the area had played vital role in his release.

He refused to disclose the identity of the kidnappers, saying that he was bound under an oath and from mediators not to speak about the captors.

Allita, an official of the Health Department at Muzaffarpur, was kidnapped on July 13 when he was coming back to home from a nearby village along with his relative Allah Yar and driver Amanullah. The kidnappers released both the driver and the relative near Chidroo but Allita was held for ransom.

A police official said though the family of the kidnapped person had not contacted police for any help, they would try to arrest the kidnappers.

The relatives of Allita say that two months ago a trader of Wan Bhachran was kidnapped and killed when his relatives filed an FIR.
