HYDERABAD, July 21: The Sindh Agriculture University claimed on Monday that the ongoing protest by the employees was illegal as the university had solved their problems, including promotion of ad hoc employees and appointment of the children of deceased employees.
A spokesman for the university alleged in a statement faxed to Dawn that some disgruntled elements were damaging the reputation of the university. He dismissed the allegations of corruption levelled by the protesters against university management as baseless and the university, which had been running in Rs63.7 million deficit since 2004, had overcome the deficit by prudent fiscal policies, the spokesman said.
The employees, meanwhile, continued their strike on Monday in protest against the policies of vice-chancellor.
IBC MEMBERSHIP: Sindh Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh had been nominated as member of the England’s International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, said a handout on Monday.
Director General of IBC Nicholas S. Law in a communication dated July 11 congratulated Dr Shaikh that the ratification of his nomination by the awards board had been completed and he had been named as member of IBC.—Bureau
