NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 21: A man and his children observed token hunger strike in Tharushah on Monday in protest against Hesco for disconnecting power supply to their house.

Gulab Babbur, his brother Roshan, children Uzma, Rabia, and Basharat observed token hunger strike for five hours. Gulab told journalists that Hesco was issuing inflated bills and he complained in writing to the SDO Tharushah many times who did not correct the bill rather advised making payment.

He said though he was a laborer, living in a single house but was receiving monthly bills in the range of Rs1,100 to Rs1,600 which he pays regularly. However, Hesoc officials disconnected power connection last week, he said appealing to higher authorities to conduct an inquiry and take action.

ARREST: Mohbat Dero police arrested some outlaws and recovered motorcycle and weapons from their possession late on Sunday.

Reports said Mohammad Urs Chandio of Sakrand, and Abdul Ghafoor Jamali of Larkana and others were arrested on Mohbat Dero-Khan Wahan Link Road with an intention to committing robbery. Police claimed to have recovered one motorcycle, TT pistol and a revolver from their possession.

Our Khairpur correspondent adds: Electricity load-shedding has made the lives of residents of Khairpur city miserable.

During the last three days, power supply was suspended after every two hours. Load-shedding of eight to nine hours during 24 hours has created numerous problems for the people, shopkeepers and traders.

Shehri Ittehad leader Salamo Malik said that as per official announcement, load-shedding in urban areas was supposed to be carried out for six hours a day but for the last three days, load-shedding in the city had been carried out for more than eight hours.
