Providential escape for driver

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, July 19: A tractor-trolley driver had a miraculous escape on Saturday when Chilton Express train coming to Lahore from Quetta hit the heavy vehicle whose parts went hurtling around.

The accident took place at an unmanned level crossing near Chak 316-GB on Toba-Shorkot Cantonment track. According to reports, the tractor-trolley driver jumped out just in time and the train, too, escaped major damage.

Absence of proper gates and a lack of official’s appointment at the crossing had led to many accidents in the past and the authorities have failed to improve the situation.

KILLS WIFE: A man killed his wife over suspicion of her loose morals at Chak 285-GB near Rajana on Saturday.

Reports said Zahoor, along with his brother and a brother-in-law, strangled his wife whom they charged with having illicit relations.

The Rajana police have arrested Zahoor and his brother Maqbool.
