RAWALPINDI, July 17: A four-year-old boy who was kidnapped for Rs1.5 million ransom from outside his house in Sadiqabad some six days ago, has been freed by the kidnappers and reunited with his parents. The kidnappers were also arrested.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Rao Mohammad Iqbal said Hamza alias Bhaloo was playing outside his house on July 8, when he was picked up.

The CPO said next day, the kidnappers contacted the grand- father of the boy on his cellphone and demanded Rs1.5 million for the safe release of the boy.

He said a police party led by SP Investigation Rana Shahid was formed to investigate the case and trace the missing boy.

The CPO said, as the police started investigation, it was suspected that some one from the boy’s relatives could be involved in the kidnapping.

Later, Abdul Nazeer, one of the relatives’ cousin, was picked up by the police. Who during the interrogation revealed that Adil Hameed, Mubarik Khan and Musa Khan were also involved in the kidnapping of the boy.

The CPO said after three of the kidnappers were rounded up by the police, the kidnapped boy was released by them.

“The kidnappers left the boy outside his house sometimes in the dark and disappeared. One of the culprits Musa is still to be arrested by the police,” SP Rana Shahid revealed.
