By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, July 16: Two people were killed on Wednesday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police said.
An 18-year-old man was killed and his friend injured in Baldia Town early in the morning when unknown attackers opened fire on them.
Saeedabad police said Ibrahim, son of Islam, was sitting along with his friend, Shafiq, outside his house in the lane of Usman Ghani Masjid in Baldia Town No 8 at around 4am when two motorcyclists came there and sprayed them with bullets.
They said victim Ibrahim, a junk dealer, was killed instantly and his friend injured critically in the attack.
The dead and the injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital where sources said Ibrahim received two bullets in his upper torso from a very close range as the bullets went through his body.
They said Shafique also received two bullets in his upper torso. The sources, however, said the injured was in a stable condition.
The police said injured Shafique was a worker of the Pakistan People’s Party. They suspected that it was a case of targeted killing.
The deceased’s brother, Adnan, told the police that he was also sitting with his brother outside the house. He said that he went into the house leaving behind his brother and his friend a little before the attack.
Killed over enmity
A 25-year-old man was shot dead in Lasi Goth in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station.
The police said Shahid Buledi, hailing from Larkana, was sitting outside his house when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on him and fled.
They said the victim was a worker at a towel factory and his two brothers were earlier murdered in their hometown over a personal feud.
The police registered a murder case against three suspects – Allah Yar, Hakim and Ahmed – on the complaint of the victim’s younger brother, Zahid Buledi.
Hub River road blocked
Residents of Saeedabad blocked the Hub River Road in protest against the short supply of water to their locality.
Traffic remained suspended on the road for an hour as the protestors stage a sit-in.
A heavy contingent of police and rangers reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
Area police said the demonstrators dispersed peacefully after they were assured of a smooth water supply to their area.
