Teenager hijacks bus in Japan

TOKYO, July 16: A 14-year-old Japanese boy who wanted to cause trouble for his parents was arrested on Wednesday for hijacking a bus at knifepoint on a major highway, police and news reports said.

No one was hurt in the incident, which was resolved within an hour after the teenager called police from his mobile telephone.

“I was scolded by my parents so I did this to cause them trouble,” the teen told police after his arrest, according to Jiji Press.

The boy had run away from home and was wielding two knives. He hijacked the bus, which was carrying about 10 passengers to Tokyo from the central city of Nagoya, police said.—AFP
