Malik rejects reports about movement of Nato troops

LONDON, July 15: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has said that Pakistan will not allow any other country to threaten its sovereignty or launch any kind of operation on its western borders.
He was talking to newsmen on his arrival on Tuesday at Heathrow on a four-day official visit to the UK at the invitation of his British counterpart Jacqui Smith.
Mr Malik said Pakistani security forces were in full control of the areas in Hangu district. The security forces had launched an operation in Zargari, Naryab and Tora Warai to smoke out militants, he said.
Besides meeting Jacqui Smith, Mr Malik will also call on Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly and Defence Secretary Des Browne.
Responding to a question, he said there was no truth in reports that Nato forces were moving close to Pakistan’s western border.
He said Pakistan and UK enjoyed close cooperation in defence and other matters and shared information with each other.
