JHANG, July 15: An under-trial was shot dead by his rival on the district courts premises where he was brought by the police for hearing in a murder case on Tuesday.

Mureed Abbas, a resident of Islampur village, had been facing trial in the murder of Fakhar Abbas who was shot dead on Aug 21, 2005. Najam Ali, Raza Ali and Tahir Abbas were nominated as accomplices, but later released on bail.

Mureed, facing trial in the court of an additional district and sessions judge, was brought to the district courts when a youngster, who was identified as Qamar Abbas (Fakhar’s brother), shot dead Mureed. Qamar surrendered to the police.
