KARACHI: Cellphone robbery

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 15: A Dawn staffer was deprived of his cellphone and cash by three armed suspects at the Business Recorder Road late Monday night.

Mohammad Kashif had stopped at the Business Recorder Road near a petrol pump to receive a call on his cellphone when all of a sudden three armed suspects on a motorcycle appeared.

Two of them stayed at a distance with their two-wheeler while one took out his pistol demanding the valuables. The Dawn staffer was relieved of Rs8,000 and his cellphone.

Before fleeing, the bandits instructed the victim not to approach his motorcycle until they were gone.

Following the incident, the victim went to the Jamshed Quarters police station where the additional SHO showed a very callous attitude, trying to give the impression that the policemen themselves were insecure and often become victims of bandits.

The police officer stamped an application which he had advised the victim to write saying that the FIR could not be registered for the offence.
