KARACHI, July 15: The Sindh government has constituted a provincial sub-committee on production of essential food commodities.

The sub-committee, to be headed by the additional chief secretary (development), will examine the trends in area/herd size production, yield and prices of essential food commodities i.e. wheat flour, rice, edible oil, vegetables, pulses, sugar, milk and meat, to increase production of essential food items including physical inputs like seed, feed, fertilizers, water, pesticides/ and mechanization, besides matters of research, extension, social mobilization, credit, pricing and marketing system.

It will also review existing measures of increasing agriculture productivity, besides suggesting measures to raise agricultural production through short, mid and long-terms plans.

It will submit its report within 60 days of receipt of the minutes of the meeting of taskforce.—PPI
