ABBOTTABAD, July 14: An eight-year-old boy, who had been kidnapped from Abbottabad two weeks ago, was handed over to his parents on Monday after he was recovered from Afghanistan.

Speaking at a news conference here, Hazara range Deputy Inspector of General of Police Syed Iltaf Imitaz said Shahzad of the Nawansher town had been kidnapped on June 30. Later, he said, it was established that the boy had been taken to the afghan refugee camp-2 in Haripur and then shifted to Kabul.

He said elders from different areas were called and a jirga was constituted and after efforts of the local police and members of the jirga, police succeeded in reaching the hideout of the accused, Nasir, who had kidnapped the boy. He said after getting custody of the boy, jirga members from Afghanistan handed him over to the Pakistani jirga members at Torkham on Sunday.—Correspondent
