Postponed LoC talks to be held on 18th

By Jawed Naqvi

NEW DELHI, July 13: India and Pakistan have rescheduled their postponed talks on Cross-LoC confidence building measures for July 18 ignoring a hiccup caused by the recent terror attack on Delhi’s mission in Kabul, official sources said on Sunday.

The talks in Islamabad would discuss the launch of a Muzaffarabad-Srinagar truck service across the LoC.

The joint secretary-level talks would discuss other ideas and proposals to enhance people-to-people contacts and trade across LoC including the opening of more routes for cross-LoC bus service.

These include Kargil-Skardu and Jammu-Sialkot bus services.

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place on July 10 but had to be postponed as Indian foreign ministry’s Joint Secretary Mr T. C. A. Raghavan had to rush to Kabul after the suicide attack at the Indian Embassy there, Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Afrasiab said.

Mr Raghavan who heads the Pakistan desk at the foreign ministry, also handles ties with Afghanistan and Iran.
