KARACHI, July 13: Sajidi Mohammadan beat Wasif Memorial 5-3 on penalties to win the All Karachi Qazi Shah Nawaz Bukht Memorial Football Tournament at the Afghani Football Stadium on Saturday.

According to a press release, the tournament organised by Friends Football Club Zone I, saw a scoreless final after which both teams had to go in for penalty shootouts in order to reach a result.

Sajidi was successful in scoring on the first five penalties with Abdul Fateh, Usman, Arif Shehzad, Khayaz and Noor Bakht as the strikers while Wasif managed to score on just three with Idrees Khan, Tufail Ahmed and Arshad Mehmood succeeding. Sajidi’s goalkeeper Shakeel Ahmed was simply brilliant.

Nazim Gulberg Town, Mohammad Kamal Malik, the chief guest on the occasion, presented the winning captain Noor Bukht with the trophy while Nazim Site Town Ezhar Ahmad Khan, the guest of honour, gave away the runners-up trophy to Wasif Memorial’s captain Faheem Shah. The guest of honour also announced a sum of Rs50,000 for the Qazi Shah Nawaz Bukht family.

Meanwhile, Noor Bukht was declared the Man of the Match. The Fair Play prize was awarded to Sadiq Khatri of the Friends Football Club.

The match was refereed by Mohammad Ashraf with assistance from Khalid Jimmy and Mohammad Kamil.—Agencies
